Drinking water is so amazing for our body but recent studies show that it is just as amazing for our mood.!! It makes sense as I ponder how water cleanses the body from toxins that at the same time it can lower the toxins in our brain if we’re always drinking it. If our brain is healthy, it seems only logical that our mood will be better and If our mood is better we’ll be able to let go of negative thoughts easier, (They did a study on that too). They concluded that the more water the participants drank, the more happy they felt as well as more calm.!! It helps both anxiety AND depression.. Many people have also claimed that water has helped them out of panic attacks whether it was in drinking form, the shower, running your hands through it, bathing in it or going to the beach.!! I have also discovered that even watching videos of the beach can be very very calming and can have a meditative effect where we can take a break from all the madness that may be in our lives. Finding things to focus on as a healthy distraction can be a game changer for alot of different bad days and can be nice in times of physical illness as well.. I think that if we do things that help our anxiety we are one step closer to being uplifted out of depression. Now some of you may be thinking “ Is it true that depression can be overcome.? ” I am living proof that it can be and let me tell you that I was probably one of the worst cases. I believe it can.. Their is something called the Red Road that the native Americans tried to live by.. In their day and age it was doing whatever they needed to like exercising, eating well ( I really don’t know what kind of junk food they had but Im sure they needed a little guidance), going to ceremonies, playing their instrument, spending time with family.. doing their rituals etc. Staying on the Red Road means to aim to live a spiritual and rich life realizing that your life needs nourishment in every way. Certain things need to be done in order to achieve balance and inner harmony.. In our day it would be things like eating right like whole grains (they help with serotonin), breaking up with alcohol or other toxic addictions, drinking LOTS of water, exercising, getting an animal, trying to laugh everyday, spending time with family, exercising your faith such as prayer and dreaming, being creative, etc. Whatever it is really that makes you happy and keeps you away from toxic environments and toxic people..!!
I would definitely include drinking lots of water as it can be very healing for bodies AND minds.. Even our emotions. Back when I had depression everyday and was crying all of the time, I remember one day I didn’t cry and I looked back at what I did and I drank ALOT of water through out the day, much more than I usually do.!! I also did a certain form of exercise too and it was like night and day. Their are so many benefits including one recent discovery that proved how it had an AMAZING effect on our cells and how they function.. Dehydrated cells literally shrivel up like a microscopic prune..Hydrated ones filled up and out and maintained their shape. Water helps our bodies run more efficiently so if our bodies are running better and are healthy than our nervous systems are more likely to be more relaxed and in turn we release more GABA in our brain as well as serotonin. Water is more important to our well being than we realize. It helps cook our food, it cleanses us, it nourishes us, it’s fun to swim in and personally makes me feel like a different person after I take a shower. I took a trip once to Hawaii to visit my sister and I couldn’t stay out of the ocean.. I had an instinctual pull that lead me to swim everyday and it did wonders for me. I felt free, it was the only thing I was focused on so I was completely present and I was happy again. I also took up boogy boarding and that was literally one of the funnest things I ever did.. Although I do have to warn you though to be careful if you are ever swimming in the ocean as it does have a natural current that can lead you away from the shore if you go to far out. I would suggest a life jacket just for insurance because I did have a scary experience my first day. But every other day was amazing and so healing. It is also healing that you get vitamin D as it helps convert tryptophan into serotonin. If we are deficient, our bodies may have a hard time creating our natural feel good hormones. Speaking of which our hormones can play a HUGE role in our moods.!! Water can help with that as well believe it or not.. detoxifying our bodies can make our brains feel amazing, along with fish oil and exercise this trio can be life changing and is very important for our brains too.!! Chia seeds also carry a great amount of omega 3’s as well as rapeseed oil.. Studies show these things literally change the brain and makes it light up and function on a way higher scale..I would even like to challenge you to a 30 day practice of these things and journal how you feel before and after just to see how amazing the combination is.. While your at it though make smoothies each day, I make fish oil smoothies and they make me feel better to the point where it’s actually very noticeable. You can even add in bentonite clay in the evening for good measure as it pulls out all heavy metals and toxins so I bet you’ll feel great.!! They did a study that eating veggies does literally make you happier.. You do all of these things in a 30 day challenge and I know you’ll see a big difference, then your on your way.!! Your depression and anxiety can lift and it is possible for you to be happy and enjoy your life..
If you need motivation to go to the gym their is something called Minimum Viable Effort just to get your ass in there.. lol. What you do is tell yourself I will just go in there for 15 minutes a day, then after awhile and you feel more comfortable you go to 20 minutes a day.. and then you’ll start to feel so good you’ll be actually wanting to stay for a bit longer.. not a promise but that’s what happened to me anyway. Another little motivator is looking at all the sexy people you love and adore. As well as all of the success stories of people going to gym who achieved their goals who all look so happy.. whatever your preferences are of course just may give ya a little boost of inspiration. Just like a car we need to spend some time on physical management so that we have a better sense of wellbeing, it’s something that you should try to have fun doing.. Like riding your bike or running with your dog if you have one, going to dance class, or swimming.. etc. One major thing I have to say is that you need to force yourself to do things that is the key here.!! That is one way that you can get on a momentum of creating serotonin. The one bad thing about depression is that it traps you.. You have no desire to do things or get joy in doing things but all of these are a great start to helping your brain recover so you can again. Don’t ever lose your faith or hope.!!
